CONDEMNATION
The Hmar Students’ Association Manipur State Committee is extremely enraged at the brutal and inhumane killing of Mr. David Thiek of Langza on the 1st of July 2023. On that fateful day Mr. David, believing that the tension has simmer down , had visited his home town to collect a few things. However, on reaching his village he encountered meitei terrorists who apprehended him and which eventually led to his barbaric death. His decapitated head was displayed on top of a bamboo fencing and the picture of which was made viral by the terrorists.
This bestial act has violated the ethics of treating captured civilian in any wartime. It should be noted that the Geneva convention covers the protection of civilians in times of war, including the protection of their lives, dignity, and humane treatment, as well as their rights to food, medical care, and protection from violence. The inhumane treatment of Mr. David Thiek has greatly angered the Kuki-Zomi-Hmar-Mizo people living in and outside of Manipur.
As this incident has the potential to flare up conflict beyond Manipur. The HSA demands immediate resignation of Chief Minister, Mr. N Biren Singh as he is clearly incapable of restoring peace in Manipur even after 60 days of violence. This incident is a further proof that Kuki-Zomi-Hmar-Mizo demand for Separate Administration is justified and we are in full support of it.
