CONDEMNATION
We, the Hmar Students’ Association (HSA) strongly condemn the recent arrest of six innocent civilians, including two minors, allegedly executed by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in between Kangvai and Molhoi village. We believe that these individuals are wrongfully accused and have no connection to any criminal activities, particularly the recent murder case of two Meitei students.
The arrests of these civilians, especially minors, are a grave violation of human rights and a matter of great concern. It is essential to uphold the principles of justice, fairness, and equality for all citizens, regardless of their community or ethnicity. We urge the concerned authorities to take immediate action to ensure the safe release of these innocent civilians and to investigate the matter justly.
We are also deeply saddened by the tardy investigation of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for the heinous and inhuman beheading of David Ṭhiek Hmar. The families and loved ones of the two innocent females namely Olivia Chongloi and Florence Hangsing who fell victim to the vile act of rape and murder by the Meitei mob still await concrete action to be taken against the perpetrators for their heinous crime. Justice delayed is justice denied, and it is crucial that the authorities expedite the investigation to bring the perpetrators of this heinous crime to justice.
Furthermore, we also condemn the pillaging of the Kuki-Zomi-Hmar Mizo villages and churches, which has caused immense suffering and displacement among the affected communities. The failure to recover the stolen armoury loot in the capital Imphal by Meitei militants is also a matter of grave concern. These stolen weapons pose a significant threat to the security and stability of the area and must be promptly retrieved to prevent further harm to the community.
We call upon the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to approach the above-mentioned cases without bias and discrimination. It is crucial that justice is delivered swiftly and fairly to all victims, including those from the Kuki-Zomi-Hmar Mizo communities.
We request the concerned authorities to ensure that the rights of the accused individuals are protected and that they are provided with a fair and transparent legal process. The rule of law and equal justice for all are fundamental principles that must be upheld in any democratic society. The Hmar Students’ Association stands in solidarity with the arrested innocent civilians and their families, and we call upon all the concerned authorities to resolve this issue swiftly and justly.
